Two nonprofit organizations in St. Mary Parish, LA, have received around $225,000 each in grants to help residents in the parish recover their lives after badly affected by the April 2010 oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
The grant money was awarded by the Community Foundation of Acadiana, Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors of New York and an anonymous contributor.
The St. Mary Community Action Agency and the United Methodist Committee on Relief Sager Brown of Baldwin received the money via the Gulf Communities program fund.
The money will be awarded for benefiting the communities impacted by the BP oil spill. The participants are required to prove that their livelihoods, families, or businesses have been damaged by the oil spill disaster.
